Our ocean barges carry cargo through open sea states on hulls built to U.S. Coast Guard rules and classed by the American Bureau of Shipping at A-1, Maltese Cross, for all-oceans service. Recessed deck fittings clear the surface for oversized freight, and shallow-draft hulls reach ports a deeper vessel could never enter.
Ocean-Going Barges for Project Cargo
Our ocean barges are the preferred choice for project cargo. We specialize in transporting massive, high-value components that require precision handling and deck strength. Barge sizes range from 140 to 400 feet long, with deck strengths up to 5,000 pounds per square foot on our largest hulls, giving each project the exact platform it needs.
ABS Ocean Barge Construction and Specs
Every ABS ocean barge in our fleet carries a shaped bow and reinforced bow compartments to handle rough water, plus stern skegs that keep the barge tracking straight under tow. Anti-fouling bottom paint maintains fuel efficiency and hull health, and heavy-duty towing padeyes and chocks hold the tow line secure in open water.
Steel rubrails protect the side shell, and timber fenders add cushion where barges raft together at a dock. Select hulls across our fleet also carry spudwells, giving an ocean barge the option to anchor down and work as a stable platform once it reaches the site.

We own the largest deck barge fleet available for charter in the country, and our ocean barge fleet ranks among the largest in the United States.
