Our ocean spud barges pair a rugged, open-sea hull built to USCG and ABS standards with spudwells that hold the deck fixed in place. Crews working construction and dredging projects get a flat, stable surface even as currents shift and tides rise and fall through the day and into the night.
Power Spud Barges That Moor Without a Crane
A power spud barge carries permanently mounted winch units that raise and lower the spuds without help from a crane. Friction or hydraulic winches spud the barge down in minutes, speeding up frequent moves and keeping crews working steadily through changing tides and rough sea states out on the water.
Spud Crane Barges Rated for Heavy Lifts
Our spud crane barges feature a boxed stern that adds flotation while the crane is working, plus extra bracing under the lift area to handle concentrated loads. Deck frames and internal bulkheads spread the weight, while wooden crane mats add traction and further distribute pressure across the surface.
Fleet sizes range from smaller 30-foot barges rated for cranes of 50 tons or less to 70-foot barges built for lifts of 400 tons. Each barge has the flexibility to run as a lift platform or a cargo carrier on open water.
