Inland Barges
Inland river barges comprise the majority of barges operating on the United States waterways. These barges are designed to operate on rivers, canals, sounds, bays, and inland lakes. Inland barges provide the most economical mode of transportation for many high-density, large-volume or oversized cargos.
Crane Barges
Crane barges, also known as, spud barges can be specifically built to support a working crane. The crane barge is built with additional support and a boxed of squared-off stern to keep it afloat under the crane’s weight. These barges are most often built with additional bulkheads, internal trusses, or deck frames. Crane barges should also have wooden crane mats to further distribute the concentrated load and traction. Crane barges can provide multiple marine construction services, as well as transportation of general cargo and work platforms.
Ocean Barges
Oceangoing barges are designed for the transportation of cargo in open sea states. The deck barges provide advantages with open deck space for over-sized cargo, as well as shallow port access.
Project Cargo Barges
McDonough Marine Service offers barges engineered and constructed to transport heavy and concentrated cargo loads. These barge sizes range from 150’ to 400’ in length with designed deck strengths up to 5000 lb./sq./ft.
